The deal was in the works since April and today Anadolu Efes announced that Vasilije Micic will stay with the team until 2021. The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague finalists are moving fast in order to secure the services of their stars for the immediate future and Micic is included on the core of the team.
The Serb guard, who was drafted by the Sixers, had a break out season this year and his name was on the short list of many other European powerhouses. It was rumored that Real Madrid would have been one major suitor for him, but Micic elected to stay in Istanbul.
While no details about his contract are officially announced, the deal is expected to include NBA out clauses in case the Sixers come calling for him. However, it’s expected that Micic will spend at least the next season as a member of Anadolu Efes.
The 25 years old Micic finished the EuroLeague season averaging 12.4 ppg, 5.5 apg, and 2.2 rpg, the best numbers in his career yet. He was elected as a member of the All-EuroLeague second team.
