Until last year, playing in the Chinese CBA made more than sense for players who wanted a lucrative contract and a smaller season compared to Europe. However, a new transfer rule in the CBA totally changes that.
Eurohoops recently published a list of CBA players who may sign in Europe next year and it seems that most of them will consider any European offer they might get. And there’s a simple reason for that.
Under the new CBA transfer rules, the clubs can change their foreign players every two months. All new contracts – probably with few exceptions – will include this provision, or they will be short-term deals which will permit the Chinese clubs if they wish to cut foreign players during the season.
After this turn of events, the appeal of signing in the CBA is obviously not what it used to be.
