Ahead of the ACB Playoffs Finals between his FC Barcelona Lassa and Real Madrid, Thomas Heurtel clarified to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo that the upcoming affairs against his team’s arch-rival are all his thinking about. His contract with the Blaugrana will end in June, but he’s currently focused on the best-of-five series versus the Whites.
Asked about his contract, he replied: “I’m really not thinking about that. I’m only thinking about the Championship and that’s it,” and pointed out: “I don’t directly discuss with the team, my agent does. Let’s see what will happen either during the Finals or later.”
The 30-year-old French guard further clarified: “Yes, my agent is talking with the team,” and explained: “I can’t make a decision, if I haven’t been offered anything. If I have an offer, I can make a decision, but I don’t”.
Heurtel has never before won the ACB Championship. He already helped Barca capture the Copa del Rey title in 2018 and 2019, now hopes to aid his side overcome Real’s home-court advantage and ultimately lift the Spanish League trophy.
