Responding to rumors on AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan interested for his services ahead of the 2019-20 season, Luigi Datome told Avvenire that he plans to remain a member of Fenerbahce Beko. “I am happy in Istanbul and intend to remain here. However, I do not know what will happen in the future” he pointed out.
On his injury and his side’s effort without him towards the end of the 2018-19 season, the 31-year-old Italian forward mentioned: “I could not help my teammates the way I wished in the final months of the season. I am disappointed we could not compete with all our players in both EuroLeague and the Turkish League, but we are not looking for excuses. This is the way of life and sports. I am proud because we fought until the very end.”
Datome ended up taking part in 34 EuroLeague matches during the previous season. He averaged 9 points and 3.6 rebounds in his ninth EuroLeague campaign. He also had 9.1 points per match in the Super Ligi Regular Season, followed up with 1.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in five appearances during the Turkish League finals.
