Real Madrid made the deal with Walter Tavares official on Thursday. The Spanish side confirmed Eurohoops’ report on the agreement for a five-year contract extension up to the end of the 2023-24 season. No financial details were released, but the 27-year-old Cape Verdean is set to become the highest paid big man in Europe.
EuroLeague’s Best Defender and member of the All-EuroLeague second team averaged 7.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game in Europe’s premier competition during the 2018-19 season. He also notched 7.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per contest in ACB action.
