Nando De Colo parted ways with CSKA Moscow after two Turkish Airlines EuroLeague titles in five seasons and has been looking for an opportunity to return to the NBA.
In case the right NBA offer doesn’t come along, De Colo could return to Europe and among a large number of interested clubs, he is expected to get calls from Spain as well, primarily Real Madrid. However, Valencia Basket holds his rights in Spain and the club director Paco Raga noted they don’t rule out anything and might try to equal the offer:
“We have the rights of De Colo in the ACB and if we can assume Real Madrid offer, we don’t rule out to equal it. Why not. We don’t rule out any scenario and of course, we are not going to renounce the rights that remain belonging to us since he moved to the NBA in 2012. We will always defend the interests of the club. He is a top player, one of the best in Europe”, Raga told Las Provincias.
The Toronto Raptors hold De Colo’s NBA rights and extended the qualifying offer which is $1.8 million for next season. However, that’s not a deal that would satisfy De Colo who was making almost $3 million per season with the Russian club.
