Khimki Moscow signed Russian guard/forward Sergey Karasev to a two-year deal, the club announced.
“It’s a great honor for me to represent Khimki, a club with a very big name and ambitions. For a second season in a row the ticket to EuroLeague where I really want to play,” Karasev said per Khimki’s website.
Karasev, 25, spent the three previous seasons playing with Zenit St. Petersburg under his father, former player Vasily Karasev. He finished the 2018-2019 VTB League season with 9.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 20:45 minutes over 18 games. In EuroCup, the Russian player averaged 16.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 27: 30 over nine games.
Three years ago, and following his decision to join Zenit following stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets, Karasev had said that playing in EuroLeague is what will prove that he’s ready for an NBA return.
