Barcelona and guard Cory Higgins have reached a principal agreement on a three-year deal, the club announced. The American player will sign his contract with the Blaugrana once he passes his medical examination.
Higgins, 30, spent the previous four seasons with CSKA Moscow. He helped the club win the 2016 and 2019 EuroLeague titles while emerging as one of the top two-way guards in the continent.
In 2018-2019, Higgins averaged a team-high 14.9 points (shooting 49% on 3.2 3-point attempts per game) plus 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 25:25 with CSKA. He scored a team-high-tying 20 points in the win over Anadolu Efes in the EuroLeague championship game.
With CSKA, Higgins also won VTB League for four straight years.
So far in offseason, Barcelona has extended the contracts of head coach Svetislav Pesic and forward Victor Claver while there’s an agreement to an extension deal with guard Thomas Heurtel. The club is also expected to soon make official the blockbuster signing of Nikola Mirotic.
