Olympiacos Piraeus announced that the club has agreed with team captain Vassilis Spanoulis on renewing his contract for one year.
Per Olympiacos, club owners and presidents Panagiotis and Giorgos Aggelopoulos met with Spanoulis on Tuesday (16/7) afternoon and reached the agreement that will keep the former EuroLeague MVP, three-time champion and Final Four MVP with the “Reds” for the 10th straight season.
Spanoulis, 36, has been playing with Olympiacos since 2010. The Greek combo guard led the team to winning the EuroLeague titles of 2012 and 2013 (earning Final Four MVP in both seasons, plus season MVP in 2013) plus the Greek championship titles of 2012, 2015 and 2016.
This is the third contract renewal that Spanoulis signs with Olympiacos since he had also extended with the club in 2013 and 2016.
Spanoulis, the EuroLeague all-time assists leader, will embark on his 14th campaign in the league in the upcoming season He debuted in the top-tier continental competition with Panathinaikos in 2005 and later won the title with the “Greens” in 2009, when he claimed his first Final Four MVP.
