Shane Larkin has informed Anadolu Efes that he’s going to stay with the team in 2019-20 by signing a lucrative 1+1 deal according to Eurohoops sources.
The contract includes NBA opt-out clauses that Larkin can exercise in summer 2020. It’s a deal that will make him one of the highest-paid players ever in Europe.
Efes and Larkin had agreed in principle to a 1+1 deal a few days following the player’s record-breaking scoring performance in the 2019 EuroLeague Final Four. The 26-year-old American guard received a couple of NBA offers after the completion of the season, but none of them provided him with the role he was looking for. Thus he decided to make the deal with the Turkish side effective.
Larkin pushed Efes towards making the EuroLeague Final for the first time in the history of the club. He then led the team to winning its first Turkish BSL championship title since 2009. He earned BSL Finals MVP.
