Milos Teodosic addressed the rumors that connected him with Crvena Zvezda prior to him ultimately signing with Virtus Bologna. The Serbian star guard had been reported to be in talks with Red Star but, as he said, there was no contact at all with the reigning ABA League champions.
“I can say that I didn’t have any contact with Crvena Zvezda, nor I did negotiate with anyone [on the team],” Teodosic said during the press conference of the Serbian national team ahead of the launch of the training camp for the World Cup, per Mozzart Sport. “I’m very sorry that such an idea was created and it ended up with me not being with Zvezda. I’m not sure how realistic it was to happen at this time.”
“I’m sorry that everything went this way, but did I negotiate and was there a story? No,” Teodosic, well-known for being a Crvena Zvezda fan, concluded on the matter.
Teodosic, a former EuroLeague MVP, First Team member and champion, signed a three-year contract with Bologna following a first-time, two-season NBA stint with the L.A. Clippers. He will play under Serbian national team head coach Sasha Djordjevic.
The decorated Italian club will compete in EuroCup next season with the aim of at least making the competition’s Final, thus punching a ticket to the 2020-2021 EuroLeague. A goal that Teodosic echoed in his first statements as a Bologna player.
“I’m very pleasantly surprised by the club and the organization. I’m glad I’m there and there’s a big job waiting for us. We have a lot ahead of us,” Teodosic said.
