Following his impressive debut EuroLeague season, Derrick Williams will remain a part of Europe’s premier competition moving his talents from FC Bayern Munich to Fenerbahce Beko, the Turkish team announced on Thursday. Eurohoops previously reported on the deal for the 28-year-old American power forward’s next challenge.
Anadolu Efes and AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan also pursued Williams, but Fenerbahce secured his signing and added him to Zeljko Obradovic’s squad for the 2019-20 season. He explored several options in the NBA as well, before preferring a second straight European sting to further his career.
The Arizona alumni, 2nd pick of the 2011 NBA draft made his way to the Old Continent last year following seven NBA campaigns and 436 games to his name. He averaged 13.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per match in EuroLeague with Bayern, added 11.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in the easyCredit BBL.
