Panathinaikos OPAP added Rion Brown, the Greek team announced on Friday. The 27-year-old American swingman penned a deal for the 2019-20 season with his new contract including an option for the 2020-21 campaign.
“My first feeling when Panathinaikos approached me was excitement” the Miami alumni admitted. “I remembered the team’s fans and the atmosphere they created when facing Promitheas.”
Brown is coming off a solid campaign with Promitheas both in the Basketball Champions League and the Greek Basket League. “I have worked hard and am glad I will make my EuroLeague debut with such a big and storied club” he mentioned.
He notched 10.8 points, 3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest in the 2018-19 edition of the Greek League, while averaging 15.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists with Promitheas in the BCL. Before playing in Greece, he had stints in Finland, France, Belgium and Israel.
