Jonas Jerebko is close to signing with Khimki Moscow Region, per Donatas Urbonas of 24sek. The 32-year-old Swede forward has been in the NBA since 2009, but seems to be on his way back to Europe.
In 2009 the Detroit Pistons selected Jerebko with the 39th pick of the draft. He afterwards played four full NBA seasons with the Pistons before moving to the Boston Celtics midway through his 2014-15 campaign. One-year stints with the Utah Jazz in 2017-18 and the Golden State Warriors in 2018-19 followed.
Jerebko already had debuted with the Swedish national team when he first moved from his country to Italy and played professionally for two seasons with Angelico Biella. He ultimately became the second Swede to be selected in the NBA draft. After 683 NBA games, he is making his way back to the old continent to make his EuroLeague debut.
Khimki’s strong summer transfer period features the additions of Timofey Mozgov, Dairis Bertans, Sergey Karasev, Stefan Jovic, Devin Booker, Jeremy Evans, Evgeny Valiev and Andrey Desiatnikov. Also, Janis Timma, Sergey Monia, Egor Vialtsev and Slava Zaytsev were re-signed.
