CSKA Moscow head coach Dimitris Itoudis visited his former university at Zagreb and spoke at the conference organized by the leading Croatian sports newspaper, Sportske Novosti, on how to succeed in sports.
“I was honored to be one of the main speakers. In my speech I noted, that the fails make your character stronger, I put our last season as an example, because we became stronger after some key losses – against Buducnost, Maccabi, Baskonia. When you fall, fall forward, I said. We also had a discussion panel with many well-known persons participating. Then I visited the University of Zagreb, where I became a student in 1989, and where I graduated from”, said Itoudis on cskabasket.com.
After his speech, Itoudis caught up with many professors and colleagues, while he was named an honorary professor at the University of Zagreb.
“They told me – and it was a surprise – that they are going to name me an honorary professor and coach of the university in November. Unfortunately, I will not be able to visit the ceremony. As a gesture of gratitude, I announced that I will award their best basketball student. This guy is recovering after surgery now, but later I will pay for his 4-day visit to Moscow where he will be able to attend our team’s practices”, added the Greek coach.
