Spanish Basketball Federation president and former player Jorge Garbajosa criticized EuroLeague, stating that the organization is doing “damage to basketball.”
‘It [EuroLeague] is doing a lot of damage to basketball. With these fights, we get into, where we want to scratch a little more power, attention and what we do is turn the basketball fan away [from the sport]. We can never attack athletes or the fans and sometimes we are wrong,” Garbajosa said, per AS.
Garbajosa also talked about the Spanish national team winning the 2019 FIBA World Cup. “This is everyone’s cup. There’s a work of many people behind becoming world champion. I’ve dreamed about it every night.” Garbajosa was a key member of the Spanish squad that won the 2006 World Cup.
