Real Madrid’s Trey Thompkins didn’t play in the Supercopa and the Spanish League opener, and he hasn’t been registered to play in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague yet.
Coach Pablo Laso confirmed that the 29-year-old power forward won’t play against Fenerbahce BEKO as he has been out of shape and they don’t want to risk an injury: “There has been a lot of talk that we have not released him, but the competition rules allow us to do it whenever we want. We think that Trey is not at his best and we want to avoid any risk with a view to the future. (…) The physical condition is closely linked to the risk of injury. If I myself, for example, trained with the team, I would be injured because I am not prepared. These are normal situations that we understand and value in such a long season. But I would not like to talk about Trey all the time, but about the game and the rest of the players,” he explained, per AS.
Laso also talke about Felipe Reyes and Jaycee Carroll’s conditions: “Felipe Reyes has not trained because he has a problem with his back, although in principle it is nothing serious. I talked to him and he could play tomorrow. Jaycee Carroll on Monday was better, but he still had a headache and we wanted him to start doing something soft, but he has also had some discomfort in his shoulder and, for now, he is safely low against Fenerbahçe,” he said.
