Real Madrid center Salah Mejri won’t make his season debut this week in the EuroLeague Round 3 away game against Zalgiris Kaunas Thursday (17/10), team coach Pablo Laso confirmed
“Salah suffered a sprained ankle yesterday and we will have to rest him for a few days,” Laso said. “I think it’s nothing serious but it’s impossible for me to use him this week. We’ll see how he is ahead of the next week.”
The undefeated Real squad will travel to Kaunas for the game vs. Zalgiris with 14 players since forward Trey Thompkins isn’t registered to participate in EuroLeague. Laso expects a tough battle against the Lithuanian side that will be looking to capture its first win of the season in front of the fans that are expected to flood Zalgirio Arena.
“The atmosphere is always very good for the home team. They cheer a lot, the arena is fantastic. What they have achieved in the last couple of years is a team identity, in addition to reaching the playoffs and the Final Four,” Laso mentioned.
