Barcelona head coach Svetislav Pesic talked about NBA superstar Kevin Durant saying that he would like to play in EuroLeague and specifically with the jersey of the “Blaugrana”.
“I’m not surprised,” Pesic said per Mundo Deportivo. “He knows the basketball situation outside of the NBA because he has played with the national team several times with the national team, winning the World Cup (2010) in Turkey for example. “It’s a sign that some things have changed in the last five or 10 years because before, players of this level didn’t know that there was another [type of] basketball. Now they know because basketball is a global sport.
“He will have a place with our team but not this year… the next one,” Pesic added.
After reacting to Durant’s comments on Twitter, Barcelona swingman Alex Abrines mentioned the following: “Dreaming is free. Pau also said he’d come back and even Kobe Bryant but in the end, it didn’t happen. If Kevin comes, we’ll welcome him with open arms. He left, leaving space for me in OKC. This time I promise to lower my salary if we come to this”.
In the meantime, Barcelona is already making preparations for Durant’s potential arrival…
