Pablo Laso trusted youngster Usman Garuba to make his EuroLeague debut against Bayern Munich on the road and was not disappointed.
2002-born Garuba posted 12 points, four rebounds, and three steals in a little over 15 minutes for his first-ever game on the big stage with a total PIR of 20, the highest one for Real, tied with Anthony Randolph’s.

Coach Laso tested him in rough waters and Garuba delivered excellently. The Spanish center was facing multi-experienced Greg Monroe in crunchtime and didn’t back down not even for a second.
Real is well-known for fostering young talents and we can only wait and see what Garuba has in store for us all further down the season.
