CSKA Moscow’s squad for Friday’s road game against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne will feature Kostas Koufos, the Russian club announced. The former NBA player and member of the Greek national team is set to debut for CSKA after recently starting work with his new team.
His highly anticipated first official appearance at the club level outside NBA and G League was delayed due to knee soreness. Koufos competed in preseason affairs, but was since held out to recover.
He will replace Joel Bolomboy in Dimitrios Itoudis’ lineup. The 25-year-old bigman suffered a knee injury in practice and will be sidelined for tonight’s match. The list of unavailable players also includes Daniel Hackett (back), Mikhail Kulagin (foot) and Will Clyburn (knee) that stayed in Moscow.
Despite its injury woes, CSKA started the 2019-20 season with five wins in six games. Upcoming rival from France sits at 3-3.
