At the press conference regarding the presentation of the new Crvena Zvezda head coach Dragan Sakota, club president Nebojsa Covic also talked about James Gist not traveling with the team for the EuroLeague double-week as well as what’s the status of injured Stratos Perperoglou and Derrick Brown.
“Gist stayed in Belgrade on Monday [November 18] and he was there this whole week, training individually. He had disciplinary proceedings for being late to the airport for the game against Efes [October 29]. When that was done, the player is obligated to give a statement. That didn’t happen, Monday was the deadline and so he stayed. He received a warning and that is behind us now”, Covic said and also informed everyone about Perperoglou’s injury status.
“Perperoglu underwent surgery, we expect him to, according to last night’s report, start training in mid-December, somewhere around December 20 and then we’ll re-evaluate. He will probably start playing in January.”
The club president also commented on Brown’s situation who is recovering: “We will track Derrick Brown’s situation, he is in the rehabilitation phase and increasing of intensity for practices and games.”
