With a few seconds remaining in the EuroLeague game between Crvena Zvezda and Valencia and the score 73-73, Red Star guard Lorenzo Brown took a step back 3-pointer to win the game. The American player sent the ball in for his team to get a 76-73 win in a thrilling match.
“I was just trying to get the last shot. Honestly. The ball went in for me. There was a great screen by James, I got a good look and I made it,” Brown said to EuroLeague TV. Apart from scoring the game-winner, Brown finished with a EuroLeague season-high 19 points plus six assists to pace his team’s offense overall.

Brako Lazic added 14 points for Zvezda that captured its second straight win in coach Dragan Sakota’s season debut in EuroLeague with the team.
For Valencia, Bojan Dubljevic scored a career-high-tying 22 points (a record he set vs. Red Star in 2014) and grabbed eight rebounds while Quino Colom added 11 points and Alberto Abalde 10 points.
The Spanish side took a 64 – 68 lead in the mid of the fourth period after coming back from an 11-point deficit but couldn’t close the match in crunch time and dropped to 4-7. It was the team’s first loss after third wins in a row. The game was disrupted four minutes after the tip-off and it was delayed almost for 40 minutes due to an equipment malfunction.
Moving forward
It’s a heartbreaking thing to lose a game at the buzzer so Dulbjevic talked about how his teammates need to preserve a positive mindset for the games ahead.
“We played in one of the toughest courts in EuroLeague, but we fought hard and we didn’t have luck in the last few seconds,” Dubljevic said. “We need to keep our heads up because we are in a good way. We need to stay positive, keep our confidence and day by day we will get better.”
