The duo of Maodo Lo (11 p. 7 as.) and Vladimir Lucic (17 p. 5 r.) got the job done for FC Bayern Munich in the 77-69 win over Zenit St. Petersburg.
The German team defended its home court, and thanks to a 12-3 run at the start of the second half, Bayern built an eleven-point advantage (49-38). There was no coming back for Zenit after that with Lucic making big play after big play.
Behind nine points and four assists by Lo, Bayern managed to close the first half leading by two points (37-35). However, at the end of the third, the score was 61-50, and Zenit couldn’t keep up.
Bayern led by 14 (75-61) making 8/14 threes, compared to 11/37 by Zenit.
Josh Huestis made his EuroLeague debut with one rebound and one block for the winning side. “Αfter three months had two practices and he is back with us,” said Bayern coach Dejan Radonjic.
Alex Renfroe (18 p.) and Tim Abromaitis (13 p.) tried their best for the guests who dropped to a 3-10 record. Bayern is in a better position at 5-8.
“We had a lot of turnovers.”
Speaking about the game, coach Radonjic explained what his team must do better: “We had a lot of turnovers, especially in the beginning of the game. We had a problem with rebounds, defensive rebounds. But we played good defense. We continued in the second half to definitely play better offensively. We played better offensively today, but we had 18 turnovers; we have to improve that. I hope that we will see some players at practice next week”.
Bayern is still waiting for the season debut of Thomas Bray and was also missing Nihad Djedovic and Leon Radosevic.
