Barcelona coach Svetislav Pesic believes that Baskonia will see an improvement with Dusko Ivanovic’s arrival as head coach.
“Baskonia has one of the best squads in Europe,” Ivanovic said per EFE, via Mundo Deportivo and added that with Ivanovic at the helm the Basque team will be “a very dangerous opponent.”
Pesic and Barcelona are facing Baskonia Thursday for Round 17 of the EuroLeague regular season Thursday (2/1). The two teams go to the game from completely different starting points since Barcelona is 13 – 3 and tied with Real Madrid and Anadolu Efes at the top of the standings while Baskonia is 6-10.
Baskonia has also been beaten in the last two Spanish ACB League matches.
“Baskonia is always Baskonia. A team with great tradition and a great sports organization,” Pesic said. “Now they are in a situation where, for various reasons, haven’t had continuity. Although it must me remembered that they lost many games by one or two points or in overtime.”
