Freeland signed with CSKA

Joel Freeland was one of the favorites to return from the States to Europe and the British center had decided to leave the NBA behind him, despite having offers from the best league of the world.

As Spanish magazine “Gigantes” had reported and Eurohoops can confirm, the player is about to sign a two year contract with CSKA Moscow in order to became the starting center of the Russian club. That seems to be one of the main reasons behind his decision, because if he stayed in the NBA, his role and minutes on the court would be a question mark.

After Sasha Kaun’s decision to retire – unless there’s an NBA offer  for him – Freeland is going to be one of the key members of CSKA and it’s new front line, which will not include Kaun, Kirilenko and Khryapa.

UPDATE: As expected CSKA Moscow announced the deal on Monday (13/7).
