When the Spurs selected Nikola Milutinov in the recent NBA draft, Spurs general manager R.C.Buford had to introduce him to the American media.
As he said: “We’re excited to get Nikola, he’s a young big guy that has improved a great deal over the last year. As we go to the future and need to replenish our size, we’re excited to add a player like that, given the chance to develop, to see what he can do”.
Many compared Milutinov to Tiago Splitter, however according to Buford, the young Serb is more like an other former player of the Spurs and also of Olympiacos: “I think a comparison we’ve made more than Splitter is Rasho Nesterovic. A really good passer. An interesting thing about him is he’s a better offensive rebounder than defensive rebounder, or a more prolific offensive rebounder. You don’t see that with many people at any size. There’s part of his game, from where he was a year ago, he’s 20 years old now, and he’s come along way.”
