The Spanish superior council of Sports (CSD) has accepted this Tuesday the appeal of Ourense and now ACB has to readmit and register the galician team to the top Spanish league.
On the 2nd of June, Ourense won the series against Breogan in order to ascend to Liga Endesa, but on the 3rd of July, the league didn’t register the club because it didn’t pass the financial audit. Antonio Gavilanes, Ourense’s president, and all the city worked in order to change the situation and achieved in the offices what they had already won in the court.
However this decision created a tricky situation. After readmiting Fuenlabrada and Gipuzkoa, the league could have one more team (19 in total) if Ourense is added, so each week one team will have a day off. Meanwhile, the big clubs (Madrid, Unicaja and Valencia basically) are rumored to want the number of the clubs in Liga Endesa to be reduced to 16.
However, ACB has now to make a more urgent decision with the case of Fuenlabrada, which may end up playing in the second division, because of the Ourense case.
