Kostas Papanikolaou was waived on Friday by the Denver Nuggets as Marc Stein of ESPN first reported. The team decided to part ways with the Greek forward.
Papanikolaou’s contract was not guaranteed so he will get nothing from his projected $ 4,8 million salary for the 2015-16 season. The Nuggets had to decide until the 5th of October if they would keep him or not, however considering his price range, they finally decided to let him go.
During the summer Papanikolaou expressed his wish to remain in the NBA and fight for minutes and a meaningful role, however under the current situation, a return to Europe can’t be excluded. Any NBA team can claim him from the waivers list until Monday, still the most probable scenario for him is to became a free agent.
