CSKA Moscow lost to Banvit (65-61), which is the host of the tournament in Turkey and Dimitris Itoudis’ former team, while the Russian squad is concerned about Joel Freeland’s injury.
The Muscovites had many absences, since they played without not only the international players but also Freeland. The British center injured during the warm-up of the match against Galatasaray, was examined by the doctors and will be out of action for one month.
In the game against Banvit, Vitaly Fridzon (16 points) and Kyle Hines were the best players, but their performance was not enough, as Banvit managed to prevail. A.J Slaughter was the top scorer of his squad with 13 points, while he scored a crucial field goal as well, with 50 seconds to go. Dominique Johnson (12 points), Adrien Moerman (11 points, eight rebounds) and Nusret Yildirim (10 points) also helped the Turkish team to earn the victory.
