Boston Celtics prevailed easily (124-91) over Milano in their first game in Europe during their tour.
Isaiah Thomas was the leading scorer of the winning side with 18 points, while Sullinger (14p), Brandley (14p), Lee (13p) and Smart (11p) scored also double digits.
Milano couldn’t stay close after the first minutes of the game. Alessandro Gentile, distinguished with 19 points (8/12 2ps), as soon as the Americans, Jenkins and Hummel added 14 and 12 points relatively.
This was the sixth loss by an NBA team. The first two took held in 1984. Milano lost by New Jersey Nets (127-80) and Phoenix Suns (118-93). In 1987 lost by Milwaukee Bucks (123-111), the next time in 2010 by NY Knicks (125-113) and the last one by Boston Celtics again (105-75).
On the other hand, Celtics played against European teams twice in 1988 (113-85 vs Yugoslavian national team and 111-96 vs Real Madrid) and twice in 2012. Fenerbahce was the only European team that beat Celtics (97-91). Few days later Celtics prevailed over Milano.
The next game for Celtics in Europe will be against Real Madrid in Spain on Thursday 8/10.
