Thanks to a tip in by Bryant Dunston at the buzzer, Anadolu Efes beat defending champion Pinar Karsiyaka 76-74 and got the “President’s cup” in the first official game of the season between last season’s champs and cup winners.
It was a close game from wire to wire and Birkan Batum won the MVP award, having in total 15 points and some key buckets in crucial moments. On the other hand, Thomas Heurtal had the ball in his hands with 14 seconds to go while Efes had a two points lead, but Karsiyaka stole it and Josh Carter tied the game (74-74).
Jayson Granger took the ball in his hand for the last play with 8 seconds left on the clock. He almost made it, but at the end it was Dunston who saved the day.
