Déjà vu for the Celtics in Madrid

By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

The Boston Celtics were again impressive in Madrid and Real playing without Rudy Fernandez and Jeff Taylor couldn’t keep up with them. The Celtics got the easy 111-96 win with Avery Bradley and Isaiah Thomas leading the way in the “NBA Global Games”.

Bradley scored 17 points, Thomas had 15 and the absences of Amir Johnson and Evan Turner didn’t change much. After a close first quarter with Real trailing by two points, Boston got a 54-43 half time lead and had a 20 points lead for most of the second half. Trey Thompkins, a former Clipper and summer addition for Real had 24 points and 8 rebounds for the losing side, while also Sergio Rodriguez (13 p.), Felipe Reyes (15 p.), Sergio Llull (13 p.) and Andres Nocioni (11 p.) scored in double digits.

The two teams have played each other back at the 24th of October 1988 when the Celtics of Larry Bird, Robert Parish and Kevin McHale beat the Real Madrid of Drazen Petrovic and Fernando Martin in a game which ended with the same score, 111-96!
