A player makes the team, or the team makes the player? There’s no real answer, but the fact remains: When a player feels important and he is a part of unit with clear roles, he can play better.
That seems to be the case with Melli and Brose Baskets Bamberg. The Italian forward never found the role he could play in EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, a team based on offensive talent and one on one basketball. On the contrary in Germany, the teamwork is much better and Melli is doing things that he never done before.
The difference specially in passing is impressive! Last year Melli had in 24 games just 18 assists, averaging 0.8 asp. To put it in other words, in 500 minutes of the court he had just 18 assists. This year in just 4 games and in 125 minutes, he had just 4.3 asp for a total of 17 assists. It’s obvious that things are different.
