A 50.000 euros fine to the players of Panathinaikos was the result of last night’s defeat by Zielona Gora. This was the third road defeat of the Greeks and president Dimitris Giannakopoulos decided to act.
A start with a 1-3 record is bad any way you look at it, however the fact that Panathinaikos lost to the weakest team of the group, even if Zielona Gora had the lead from wire to wire in their game, created more displeasure to both the management and the fans of the club.
Meanwhile, one more issue for the Greens is that the young Greek players of the team and European champions at the junior level, Vasilis Charalampopoulos and Giorgos Papagiannis, are not getting any meaningful minutes so far. The management wants to see them more on the court and that was also a problem during the tenure of coach Dusko Ivanovic with the team.
