According to “El Mundo Deportivo” newspaper, Euroleague CEO Jordi Bertomeu is ready to present to the clubs a new proposal in order to reject the offer made last week by FIBA, which provides the same, or even bigger revenues for the future.
The representatives of the Euroleague clubs are meeting on Tuesday in Barcelona and there the new project is expected to be presented. The collaboration of the Euroleague with the IMG (International Management Group) management company is the basis of this proposal which will keep FIBA out of the top European competition.
FIBA made already its own proposal for the basketball “Champions League” which was presented to the clubs and Euroleague last week. According to FIBA’s plan for the 2016-17 season the team will share revenues of 30 million euros, based on their sporting results.
