A crucial steal and two free throws from Tomas Satoransky, 10 seconds before the end, helped Barcelona beat Lokomotiv Kuban at home (72-68). This was the fourth win for the Blaugrana (4-1), whereas the Russians suffered their first loss in group C (4-1).
For the winners, Ante Tomic had 16 points and seven assists, while Dontaye Draper scored 20 for the losing squad, with Malcolm Delaney adding 18.
In the beginning, no team could take a significant advantage and the first quarter ended with the Blaugrana in front by two (18-16). In the second quarter, the match continued to be a derby, with the Spaniards retaining a small lead after 20 minutes in the game (37-31).
In the second half, the Russians made a great third quarter and executed well on both ends of the floor. They outscored their opponents 11-18 and took an one-point advantage (48-49). In the last quarter, Lokomotiv was in front by four (59-63), however Barcelona made a 9-0 run and regained the lead (68-63). However, Giorgos Bartzokas’ team made a come-back, cut the deficit to two points, with ten seconds to go (70-68). But, Tomas Satoransky made a crucial steal and with a pair of free throws, he secured the victory for his squad (72-68).
