Euroleague presented its project for the next 10 years and after the meeting with the clubs invited FIBA officials to Barcelona in order to present them the details of the plan. However at this point there’s no answer from FIBA to the invitation, no meeting was held between the two sides and nobody can predict if there will be one.
FIBA was planning its own meeting with Euroleague in the clubs during December in which the matter of discussion would have beeen the FIBA champions league. However the clubs invited in the champions league signed aleady with Euroleague and that means that the point of discussion has changed. The question now is if FIBA will accept the invitation by Euroleague and send a delegation to Barcelona, something that seems unlikely.
In theory FIBA can react by organizing its rival league, the champions league, and also by expelling Euroleague players, officials and clubs from FIBA’s competitions, preventing them from playing for their national teams.
