Unicaja Malaga is no longer unbeaten. The Spaniards were defeated on the road by the German champs Brose Baskets Bamberg who proved in the most emphatic way that defense wins the games in their 73-53 triumph.
After a 17-14 first quarter, the guests couldn’t get anything going, scoring just 20 points in the second and the third period as Brose Baskets build a 60-37 advantage. The game was over at this point and as strange as it sounds not even one player of Unicaja scored in double digits. The Spaniards finished the game with just 4/26 shots behind the arc. more turnovers (14) than assists (11) and 10 rebounds less than the hosts.
Janis Strelnieks was the leading scorer of the winners with 14 points, however it was the team effort and the incredible concentration on defense and details that made this win happen. It’s also worth noting also that Leon Radosevic felt right at home for his new team, providing 8 points on 4/4 shots and 3 rebounds in 18 minutes of action for the winners.
