Panathinaikos became this morning the 11th team which signed with Euroleague a ten year contract for the league new project with IMG. As the club announced the Greeks have made their decision official.
Since last week Panathinaikos had informed the Euroleague about their intensions and now they are ready to join the rest of big clubs on Thursday’s meeting about the new league. With FIBA announcing that they will proceed with their Champions League plan for next season, it remains to be seen which teams will play in the FIBA organized league. According to Panathinaikos announcement however the club “took into account the fact that there’s no proposal from an other league”.
Meanwhile on Thursday’s meeting more announcement about the new Euroleague project are expected, as we don’t know yet which three domestic leagues will get a direct spot for their champion in the new 16 teams regular season.
