Fenerbahce had already qualified to Top16, Crvena Zvezda is still fighting for a spot, but the Turks were not in the mood of making presents. Zeljko Obradovic’s team got the 79-61 win and secured the top of Group A.
The game was balanced during the first 20 minutes with Fenerbahce having a narrow 39-37 lead. The second half was much different and defense decided the outcome. The guests scored 24 points in 20 minutes and that was enough. Ekpe Udoh with just 13 points led the balanced scoring of Fenerbahce and the big news came from the return of Ricky Hickman to action, who returned from his last season’s injury and played for 2 minutes.
Marko Simonovic had 15 points for Crvena Zvezda with 5/8 threes, but in total the Serbs had 8/23 attempts beyong the arc and made 18 turnovers, while Fenerbahce had just 7. The defensive difference was also obvious from the 7 blocks of Fenerbahce and that’s how a 38-29 rebounding advantage for Zvezda didn’t translate to something positive.
