In a late-thriller in Moscow, Fenerbahce beat Khimki 68-70 and finished first in group A (8-2). On the other hand, the hosts (5-5) will now have to wait to find out whether they will finish second, third or fourth in the group.
For the winners, Jan Vesely scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds, with Bobby Dixon adding 16. For the losing squad, Tyrese Rice had 19 points, as Alexey Shved scored 16.
Khimki made a better start to the game and had a six-point advantage (17-11), but the visitors responded, played better offensively and cut the deficit to two points at the end of the first quarter (26-24). The hosts started the second quarter with a 7-2 run and managed to extend their lead (33-26), but Fenerbahce fought back, made a 6-13 run of their own, with the first half ending in a draw (39-39).
The Turks enhanced their performance in the second half and quickly earned a small advantage (45-50), but the Russians came back again and were down by just one point (49-50), after 30 minutes in the game. In the last quarter, the match continued to be close (53-52, 62-61), but one free throw from Ekpe Udoh and a two-pointer from Bogdan Bogdanovic gave Zeljco Obradovic‘s team the victory, as Khimki made a turnover in their last offensive effort.
