Unicaja Malaga was the only team which has beaten CSKA in Moscow and the Russians returned the favor on Spanish soil, getting the road win and the top spot of Group D.
Defense was the key for the “army team” which let the hosts score just 11 points in the third period on the way to a 88-76 win. A two minutes 11-3 run at the end of the third quarter which gave to CSKA a 65-57 lead from a tied score (54-54) decided the outcome. Nando De Colo with 18 points and 7 assists – along with 5 turnovers – added one more good game to his season and Joel Freeland had 10 points and 6 rebounds against his former team.
Edwin Jackson with 15 points and Will Thomas with 14 led the offense of Unicaja which couldn’t react in the last quarter and finished on the second place behind CSKA Moscow.
