Speaking to the Greek radio station Sport FM, Kostas Papanikolaou Greek agent George Sfairopoulos spoke about the decision of the Nuggets to cut his client and also about his possible return to Europe.
According to Sfairopoulos the decision of the Nuggets was unexpected: “Papanikolaou had many talks with people of the team, both from the front office and the coaching stuff, and also I have spoken with assistant general manager Arturas Karnisovas. We have been told that the team will pick up his option for the rest of the season. However, that’s life and we are ready to respond to every situation”.
Papanikolaou may return to Europe, if he has an offer, and Barcelona is the team which will have the right to sign him, before any other European club: “Barcelona has his rights for Europe and the first word. If Kostas gets an offer from an other team, Barcelona can match it and sign him. At this point Kostas wants to get minutes on the court. That’s his number one priority”.
