Earlier today, Gintaras Krapikas was relieved of his duties as Zalgiris Kaunas’ head coach, with Sarunas Jasikevicius being appointed as the interim coach!
After the team’s bad start in Euroleague’s top 16, Krapikas’ presence in the bench was insecure and, consequently, the 54-year-old coach was fired, after two years as the squad’s head coach. The administration thanked him for everything he did for the club and immediately appointed the legendary Sarunas Jasikevicius, who was also Krapikas’ assistant, as his replacement.
The 39-year-old former player is expected to help the team return to the winning track in the Euroleague as well as remain competitive in the Lithuanian league.
