As it was expected and as Eurohoops.net had already informed you about, the General Manager of Barcelona, Joan Creus, said in an official press conference that his team will not match Olympiacos‘ offer for Kostas Papanikolaou, respecting the player’s wishes to return to Piraeus.
That means that “Pap” is now automatically a part of the Greek club, again. It is quite interesting that there is a unique agreement between the two teams. If, for any reason, Papanikolaou leaves from Olympiacos, Barcelona automatically preserves ownership of the player’s rights.
“Our decision about Papanikolaou was based on criteria that had to do with our roster and basketball. Not economical ones. We will not bring the player because of the current timing and because that’s in the team’s best interest”, said Joan Creus about the matter.
