The plot thickens in the case of the passports of Andy Panko and Marcus Slaughter. As “El Mundo Deportivo” and Jose Ignacio Huguet revealed the former assistant coach of Real Madrid Hugo Lopez and former Real Madrid player Richard Nguema, the son of a diplomat from Equatorial Guinea, are under investigation.
Nguema, born in Madrid at 1988, started his basketball career in the junior teams of Real. Lopez is presented to have a close relationship with his family and the authorities are investigating if those two persons are connected with the fake passports. Lopez had recently coached Nguema to the championship title with the Malabo Kings of the Guinean League and now he is the coach of the Halifax Hurricanes in the Canadian league.
Meanwhile according to the same report, Real Madrid is denying any connection to the case and may also go to the court against those responsible for the passports in order to claim damages.
