A tremendous performance in the first half (29-44) was enough for CSKA Moscow to destroy Zalgiris Kaunas on the road (59-94). This was the fourth win for the Russians (4-2), whereas the Lithuanians suffered their fifth defeat (1-5).
For the winners, Milos Teodosic had 20 points, with Nando De Colo adding 19, on 7 of 12 shooting. On the other hand, Paulius Jankunas scored 16 points for the losing squad.
In the beginning, CSKA Moscow was executing very well on both ends of the floor and quickly took a double-digit advantage (7-18), with the visitors managing to end the first quarter in front by 15 (11-26), as Teodosic had already scored 10 points.
Later, the situation remained the same.The Muscovites extended their lead to 18 points (16-34) and, despite the hosts’ effort to cut the deficit to 11 points (27-38), closed the first half with a 15-point advantage (29-44).
In the second half, Dimitris Itoudis’ team went on a 10-2 run (31-54) and never looked back, as the Lithuanians were playing mediocre, both offensively and defensively. Consequently, CSKA easily retained its double-digit advantage, after 30 minutes in the game (45-66).
In the last quarter, things didn’t change much (57-82, 59-91), with the hosts being unable to make a come-back and the visitors claiming an easy win on the road.
