The basketball that Lokomotiv Kuban performs on court during the current Euroleague season, makes for what is probably the best output that the club from Krasnodar has ever presented in its international ventures. And not only.
After an easy qualification from the Regular Season to the next stage, the Russian team now aims higher, having already set the foundations for the playoffs after a 4-2 record in the first 6 Top 16 games. On its road to reaching new Euroleague peaks, the Lokomotiv Kuban automobile owes much to the strong wheels of the backcourt duo that Malcolm Delaney (17.5 points, 5.5 assists, 3 rebounds per game) and Dontaye Draper (8 points, 2 assists, 1.4 steals per game) compile.
Numbers “0” and “4” of Lokobasket work almost to perfection together, playing side by side with a strong chemistry. They complement one another, creating a force to be reckoned with, on both ends of court. One that is able to break any defense into smithereens, while simultaneously destroy the plans of any opposing guard that tries to lay siege to Loko’s castle . By trusting on each other’s strengths, Delaney and Draper make the most out of their unique characteristics. They simply know that they got each other’s backs and that doesn’t only allow them to focus their attention on their primary role in the game, but also increase their already strong output on their areas of expertise.
It all makes extra sense, if you take into account that there are also some further special connections between Malcolm Delaney and Dontaye Draper. Among other things they share the same “roots”, coming from Baltimore, Maryland. Watch the special Euroleague feature on these two players to find out more about them.
