Bourousis and Laboral Kutxa did it again

Giannis Bourousis had one more stellar game and Laboral Kutxa Vitoria Gasteiz made one more step towards the playoffs by getting the big win over Brose Baskets (90-68).

The hosts are for the moment on top of the “Group of death” standings with a 5-2 record as the Greek center finished the game with 18 points, 11 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block and Mike James added 16 points. David Bertans (12 p.) and Darius Adams (11 p.) also scored in double digits.

Bourousis set the tone early by scoring 10 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in just four minutes of action. With his buzzer beater three-point shot at the end of the first quarter, the hosts got a 26-13 lead and never looked back. The half time score was 49-30 in favor of them, nothing changed in the third period (72-46) and the German champs just couldn’t react.

It was not the game everyone was expecting to see, Brose Baskets should had been a much more feisty opponent, but the Germans shot just with 39% efficiency in two pointers and 35% efficiency in threes. Those numbers were not good enough, the defense of the hosts did its job admirably and also in offense Laboral Kutxa had 12/24 threes. Add also a 12 rebounds advantage (42 vs 30) and you have the whole picture of a game dominated by Bourousis and company once more.
